This is supported by multiple ALS organizations.

https://iamals.org/everycommunity/

You may submit your name as someone with ALS, your name if you are a primary caregiver, or the name of a loved one lost to ALS.

The idea is to provide a powerful visual that every community is affected.

Address is requested solely to locate the Congressional district. It will not be made public or used for other purposes.

It will be a powerful visual. Please submit names. Let's light this map up. Thanks very much.

Thanks, I uploaded my info...

I am always cautious of these new ALS causes.

But, I'd say this might be legit... after some research I found their address.

I AM ALS, 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW #14135, Washington, D.C. 20044.

If that's any assurance. They are asking for donations. I could not find if
that address is commercial offices or residential - apartments/condos.

"This is supported by multiple ALS organizations."

Anybody can paste organizations logos onto their page.

Whatever.....

This is an advocacy project in conjunction with other ALS organizations. Contact information will not be used for fundraising purposes.

You can see the cooperating organizations here Every Community (scroll down).

I searched a few and didn't find their connection.... maybe you could post a link
where these organization are participating or at least aware of it giving support.

If you search for #EveryCommunity on social media, you'll see

quite a few of them promoting the effort.

I think Greg was involved in I am ALS.

Your post is unique.... none of it can be copied to do reference.

well it copies perfectly for me. I use an ipad. I know my doctor at Mass General supports the organization. Whether people choose to give their information to the organization is up to them. I believe it says the specifics are used to place the markers but do not appear in public. I did wonder why a zip code would not have worked instead of a whole address?

I filled it out with a fictitious name and my general address with the correct city and state. That should suffice.

Ok, didn't mean to start anything.

I guess everyone here may chose to change their Avatar and Bio with your
a picture of your face and more precise location. It's the same.

The young man doing this may be well intended (I hope).... can other organizations
do the same here? Like ALSTDI?

Don't know.... are there Forum rules concerning other organizations doing
this here? I remember others....

Kim used a fictitious name. (?) Kim, did you post a picture of yourself?

As Nikki wrote.... " I did wonder why a zip code would not have worked
instead of a whole address?" Good question.

Whatever... I'll leave at this. The old saying... "Buyer beware."

(Even I slip up occasionally, (well maybe more do to circumstances) I posted a
Thread concerning the Lottery with a small picture of me standing in front of the
Poker Room at a Casino. (Dumb). Well, somebody copied it and posted it on one
of the Lottery/Gaming sites I follow. I had to ask the Mods to take it down.)

One of the purposes of this project is to let advocates show their legislators the impact of ALS in their districts.

Unfortunately there are some zip codes that straddle two Congressional districts. That was the reason that the input had to drill down to an address; however, I AM ALS made sure that street-level information would not show on the map. They really didn't want to have to collect it at that level, and they have promised that the addresses are solely to identify Congressional districts.

Participation is certainly voluntary. I think it makes a compelling way to show the impact of ALS in every community (certainly provided that it will attract ample participation). It can be useful for a lot of other purposes, too.

Thanks.
