Hi, my name's Kate - I'm a third year medical student in the UK and I'm currently working on a project looking at attitudes and ethical concerns in the use of ventilation / withdrawal of ventilation among patients with ALS. Difficult indeed. I recall that Myrna Moore presented a paper at an ALS Conference in 1999 or 2000 dealing with that. Myrna is the ALS Clinic Coordinator at Sunnybrooke Hospital in Toronto. If you go to the ALS Society of Ontario web page and look for the Sunnybrooke Clinic you might find her email address there.
