Fantastic, but the cost will be between $3,000 to $5,000 per year! There is no reference as to whether or not the drug helps with any of the other aspects of EL - anger, agression, depression. Has anyone heard anything about that? If it does, it is worth every dime!

I am currently taking Amitriptylene for this.

CJ,
I am a bulbarian. I started taking 25 mg. of Amitriptyline about a month ago to help with staying asleep. I found that it has helped with emotional liability (crying for me).
Also, I have no more hip/thigh pain when sleeping on my side. It has helped somewhat with excessive drooling. These are all perks that I was not expecting!
I was given pills for 50mg, but found it too heavy a dose (really out-of-it the next day).

My husband was in the Avanir trial. The drug did help with all of the emotions.

I don't really understand why the cost estimate is so high. We can get this compounded for around $90/month, although insurance won't cover the cost. So now that the FDA has approved this, I guess Avanir will be recovering their research dollars through insurance and Medicare?
