Dear members,
I've been suffering from intense muscle twitching across my body, some are very fine on the top of my foot. and some are intense rumbling ones
, this has been followed by stiffness and pain in hips and feet after walking and sitting for more than 30 min. This has been happening for the last few months. I have been to two neurologists, one who completely dismissed me for asking about Twitching and MND. He gave me an EMG which was clear. But since then twitching has gotten much worse. I understand twitching alone doesn't mean a thing, but the sudden widespread onset was really scary. It took a month for it spread from just a foot to the whole body.
Therefore, I reached out to a neuromuscular specialist who did a strength test and reflex test. He noted that I had brisk reflexes (foot bottom scratch test), which the first doc didn't mention or notice.
What worries me is that now individual fingers on my right hand have started Twitching. Something that was not happening before. I therefore got a second emg a month later. This was from an EMG specialist (summary attached), he did not do another NCV. But he spent some time proding me with the needle. Although he could not catch fasics on the EMG he saw some ripples and said that it could be mykomic discharges? Not the same as MND twitching.
My first question is with respect to point 3 on the EMG part. What does this mean? Is this normal? It was not mentioned on the first EMG. Could this mean some sort of progression? I do get a lot of rumbling twitches on my hips and arms (proximal muscles).
Second, he poked me with the needle on the right side of my mouth around the lip. Is this bulbar muscle? I thought the tongue was the bulbar muscle.
Thank you for your time and answers. I keep all of you helpful PALS and CALS in my thoughts.
