Hi. I am 46 and last week went to neuro as I felt my left leg getting weaker. I do have undiagnosed SFN, which I thought was contributing to my weakness. I was surprised when the neuro stated that I had myopathy, never heard of it, and that he couldn't help me anymore. He was referring me to a neuromuscular specialist at Dartmouth Hospital.
I do not believe I have symptoms of nmd. I have twitching all the time, everywhere, but I feel this is benign.
I received the notes from the day of the emg visit last week and this was his interpretation:
Evidence of chronic, inactive, asymmetric myopathic process.
He then says, regarding myopathy, an inflammatory process is likely, perhaps metabolic.
Also in differential, muscular dystrophy. MND is remote consideration as well.
I'm hoping more will be clarified at Dartmouth. Can myopathic changes be seen in MND as well. From what I've read, there are distinct differences on emg in regards to these two diseases.
Any clarification would help. I know he uses the word remote, which is great. But still curious.
Thank you!
