I posted a couple months ago and was told I could come back with results

Saw a neuromuscular doctor last Thursday. Started twitching 3 months ago with shoulder and arm being worse. My emg showed fasciculations in arm. He said he's not concerned, doesn't want me to go back for future testing.

I am so scared, I am a mom of 2 small kids and am worried this is the beginning of als since my emg was not clean.

Is this still a normal result, I am confused and don't know much about emg testing since I'm only 3 months into fasciculations

Forgot to mention I tried to post on my original post but it looks like thread closed.

Hi Marcy- there is usually a summary of the test included in the report. You can post that here (with identifying info blacked out) if you want. But, if the specialist conducting the test is not concerned and doesn't even want to see you for follow up that's really good news. ALS has a distinctive pattern on an EMG and the specialist did not see it.

Previous thread here: Terrified

Benign fasciculations are not worrisome. The neuromuscular doctor who saw you was not worried. Clean and dirty are not real medical classifications anyway but it sounds like you had an emg that was a normal variant so using dirty is not an appropriate way to think about it

if your neuromuscular specialist is not worried and says no follow up needed the appropriate reaction is to rejoice and enjoy your family. Why don’t you believe him?

THanks for the reply. I don't have a copy of the report unfortunately.

Nikki I just don't understand how this can be a benign finding and am worried this may be the beginning of als. Can it show this way after 3 months?

He then said if I go 6 months with no weakness I am fine. So that is causing me anxiety. I can't stress about this for 3 more months. It's honestly ruining my life where I worry one day it will become to much. I am so scared. I keep thinking it's the beginning and I'm going to leave my daughters

You are ( presumbly) not a neurophysiologist, neurologist or even a doctor? Fasciculations are almost always benign and as far as fasciculations on a emg the saying is it is not the fasciculations but the company they keep. This means they are meaningless alone and without the other findings of ALS benign. ALS fasciculations are caused by dying motor neurons your emg proved your motor neurons are healthy. Please see your gp for helping in dealing with this as it is not our job to argue with you about this. Closing thread. Please do not start another
