Hello. I would like to ask questions about my situation. I have clinically weakness and athropy in face, neck and arms, stated by neurologist. Did emg and dont understand it really. It says chronic denervation in fasialis muscle, orbiticularis oculi muscle (the only 2 tested in face) aswell in the two tested muscles in my upper arms. No active denervation. They tested 1 muscle in lower leg, one muscle in upper leg, one muscle in lower arm and then upper arm and face. All on my right side. I have a hard time understand what the differentials could be with chronic changes in two levels, one outside spine? They are ordering mri s now. I did not understad neurologist explanation. would be thankful if someone who know more about emg than me could explain something about this. If not thats okej, i know you have your hands full whitout us disturbing you in your painfull situation.

Hi
what you describe are not the findings that we see in ALS so it makes sense that they are doing more testing. The question about differentials can only be properly answered by your doctors who have examined you .there are certainly many medical conditions, some quite obscure, that can cause worrisome symptoms.

please do let us know what they decide. Good luck

Thank you very much for your answer.

Talked with the neurologist. They say they think its an old bells palsy in the face and radiculophaty in the cervical level. I dont know..but i have a hard time beliving that. I have never had bells palsy, that i know of..and usuly you do notice that. And i se weakness on both side of my face, thats very uncommon. I guess i have to wait until the rest of the testing is done.
