Hello all,

Just a quick question. I have noticed in the past few months or so that my bra strap and tank top sleeves on the left side keep falling down my arm. Weird, but no big deal. BUT then last night I noticed that my left shoulder is sloping funny, it is just plain lower than the right shoulder. By a good 2 inches! I don't know when this happened, but I am reasonably sure it probably corresponds with the bra strap thing. This is yet another odd left-side issue for me and I am glad I am seeing that movement disorder specialist soon. My question: does anyone know why this might happen and what the "name" for it might be? I know this isn't an ALS-related question but many of you seem like fountains of knowledge and might know something...

Thanks

Lydia

maybe it is atrophy of your shoulder?

Hi Lydia! Is there any pain related with the dropping of the shoulder?

Hello-

It doesn't seem like atrophy to me, it doesn't look thinner than the other, it doesn't have any of those strange little depressions. And it doesn't hurt. My neck/shoulder area seems a little stiff lately, but on the right side; not the left. Who knows? It is just slanted instead of straight, and asymmetric. I can raise it to be equal with the other, I just have to consciously make it stay there. I think it just wants to be sloping (as if it has desires! ha!)

i have had this problem with my right shoulder for some years now.
i noticed my clothes hung more down on my right side and have to keep adjusting them, even coats slide down the right side.
however i do have atrophy in my shoulders, very boney, not much there.
also i have had shoulder contractures,my shoulders joints contantly ache.
i am still waiting for the hunch to appear:lol:

11th cranial nerve?

Hello all,

I heard today that a sloping shoulder can be caused by failure/weakness of the spinal accessory nerve (?)....which has something to do with the 11th cranial nerve....anyone know about this? About to consult Dr. Google and we all know what happens when we do that.....! PLEASE save me from myself:-D
