Sorry to keep posting but would the fact that the emg report didn't mention any denervations be something that would point away from ALS?

YES. I consider that a positive sign.

Fibrillations (fibs) are an indicator of denervation. The report does mention "some fibrillations" and "occasional fibrillations" so I would not say there is no mentions of fibs, just that they do not appear to be terribly significant.

With the little we have of the EMG, I could not say that it shows widespread, acute and chronic denervation, but the report also does not rule out ALS. There are still many other possibilities and it will take time and more tests to try to come up with a firm diagnosis.

Try to relax and stop googling. Dr Google never helps. Just pray for slow progression, whatever it is

Yale finally called, have an appointment tomorrow so hopefully answers soon.

Unfortunately the specialist at Yale is saying its 99.9% ALS. He wants to re run the ncv/emg next week because there were results not consistent with als but he believes that is because they didn't test enough muscles.

Very sorry. You will find support here

Vikman, by any chance, is your dad a veteran?

No he is not.

Sorry to hear all this, Vikman. I guess that, at 69, he already has Social Security and Medicare and a regular doctor. Later on, he might need assistance to go though the normal activities of daily living. Has he got a wife to take care of him?

Yes he does. And a great group of friends nearby. Ill be there too as well as the rest of family as much as they can. Thanks Atsugi. Its a lot to take in all of a sudden we are just trying to get our minds around it
