8 Hours In The Go-cart

First, let me sincerely thank you all for the encouragement, questions and speculations you've shared with me on this thread. You all are wonderful and very much appreciated.

The 8 hours I spent yesterday in my daughter's go-cart (aka Saturn Coupe) has had its effects on me and has awoken the sleeping spasticity once again. My neck, arms, legs, etc... all stiff as a dead monkey today.

The metabolic thing has yet to be researched unless some of that was done in all of the viles of blood taken earlier.

Why no speculation on the part of the neuro (who is an MDA specialist) as to what is causing my malady? Perhaps he has me confused with some malingerer with a similar name. Maybe I closely resemble one of a host of hypo's he has seen recently and he didn't want to waste breathe and time on speculations that would entangle him in endless diatribe. I don't know. But, on my behalf, a malingerer wouldn't work so hard (i.e. driving 4 hours one way in a go-cart) for a neuro visit. A hypo would! Aw shucks! Please, NO! NO! NO!

BFS and Pinched Nerve weren't even brought up as possibilities. Now, that just shattered me! I was looking very forward to the neuro saying, "You have BFS coupled with PNS." He just said, "I don't know what is causing your cramping and fasciculations."

So, perhaps I have crossed over into hypo world! (Oh, Lord, I hope not. I wonder if you can become a hypo fearing being a hypo.) That would be sad.

Zaphoon
P.S. Thank you for all of your kind words. I'm glad I was able to put a song in your mind (if not in your hearts)

Kim ... I think a hypochondriac who worries and wonders if he's developing hypochondria is in a class by himself. You have taken this to a whole new level. I am in awe ...

You may be the world's first case of BFS/PNS/PHS (Potential Hypochondriac Syndrome)

Hi Kim....So sorry that the doctor didn't give you any 'real' direction to go into. You have to look at things this way, if something is lurking in you body (hope not) then it isn't going to go away, because the doctor sent you away.

Eat 2 bananas a day for the cramping.

I am sorry there are no answers, Kim. George posted a recipe for "Cramps Cocktail." You can probably find it in the archives if you do a search.

Keep smiling. We are with you every step of the way! Cindy

zaphoon:

I'll pray that the news continues to be good for you.

I was wondering how your appt went. Glad to hear it's not neuro.

Z~

Well, Well, Well. What does one say? The endless up and downs of limbo. In regards to PNS, I asked my als neuro about my hand and foot atrophy. She looked at my hand and aknowledged my hand atrophy (finally) and said well it could be loss of mixed connective tissue or maybe a pinched nerve in your neck! Well, that would be great and all but it is in both hands and my feet, so I have ALOT of pinched nerves I guess!

Zaphoon,

The wizard of Oz does keep a song in our minds, as well as memories in our hearts. Or at least, that's the way I think about it.
Enjoy your family, and every day you are given. I know it's hard not to be pulled into that hypo circle, and I pray that God will give you the strength to fight it off!
Never lose faith,
brenda
