Just came across this now-closed thread (https://www.alsforums.com/forum/general-discussion-about-als-mnd/11111-pbs-frontline-show.html) about PBS Frontline’s program about assisted death.
Unlike some of the people who posted on that thread, I was very comforted by that program. I am actually considering this option for myself and felt empathetic (and even envious) of the man featured in the program. He is been diagnosed with ALS, had two loving adult children and was being cared for by his loving wife, but realized he was going to die. Rather than prolong his death and suffering, he chose to end his life on his own time on his own terms.
Everyone has the right to make their own decision and I think it’s important that we respect this – whether we would make this choice or not.
