Hello everyone.

I had few posts here before about my fear of ALS.

Some updates now, I been to few doctors, done EMG on few parts of my body with 8months between them, the results were fine and the doctor told me "Son, you do not have ALS I swear" that kinda made me feel relieved and I was ok for few weeks. Actually all the issues I though of before like muscle atrophy did not change in 8 months, like my hand. I thought it was smaller but in 8 months it kept the same size exactly. so if I had ALS in 8 months it would have gotten smaller or lost totally.. right?

anyway whats new is, for a month now I can't eat properly. food doesn't want to go from my mouth to down.. I keep chewing it and only little with big effort goes down. Went again to the doctor he told me to check ENT and endoscopic doctor to do further tests. I have appointments for that in two weeks.

Now this is my smptoms:

I can drink liquids, I can eat solid food. first few bites will go easily (2 or 3 bites) then it is hard.. I feel like I can swallow.. talking is fine, I keep asking my family if anything change in my talking they said no. twitches are all over the body like it always been since more than 8 months. no problems chewing just swallowing solids.. I read in the internet and it all suggests ALS or some other bad stuff.. any advice? does it sound like ALS?

I am seriously messed up again. I am planning on leaving my job I can't work very well because of my depression.. no point in working if I will die in three years or so..

You're not dying imminently. It does not sound like ALS! Swallow issues are nothing like you describe. Stress and anxiety however can cause your symptoms.

Please, don't quit your day job! You ought to use your salary to pay for extensive counselling. This would be, by far, the best investment you could possibly make. I promise you the return on investing in yourself will be a joyous productive life.

Anxiety can and will do a number on your body if you let it, trust me I know first hand! Go and see your primary doctor and talk to them about your issues, they can point you in the direction to a good therapist to help with the anxiety and depression. Gerd can also cause the symptoms with swallowing you mention. If you're still worried maybe get into a nueromuscular specialist for a second opinion.

With ALS, it is thin liquids that are not tolerated. My husband eats solid foods fine, but can not drink water. P
