All CALS get depressed. Some have called it PTSD.

Of course, many of us rely on therapy and antidepressants. I have, too.

But the one thing that improved my depression most was a treatment for PTSD called EMDR.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a treatment that some therapists are qualified in. It worked great for me.

Google a therapist in your area to find one who can do EMDR.

Thanks Mike, that's so interesting.

Anything that can help us process and move past what has happened in our lives and our loves is worth investigating.

I am my dad's CALS. But, I have depression really bad. I might look into that.

EMDR is an excellent treatment, I learned about it many years ago during a psych conference that talked about PTSD. I use it myself with things that I have an eversion to. I avoid alcohol like the plaque when I am depressed as I know it is a depressant, but also because alcoholism runs heavily on my mother's side. What is the treatment for ITSD (intra traumatic stress disorder)?

I told several people at my mother's visitation last month that is someone could get PTSD from a disease, one could get it from ALS.
