Hi everyone I’m a 45 year male that’s currently going thru a decent amount of symptoms which are starting to pile up. (previous thread here: Nervous)

So started in June when I looked at my leg and noticed it was kinda off looking compared to the right. Then came some twitching that went away and resurfaced again. Continued to notice more muscle loss which I thought was due to diet. So did my doctor so we just ran tests for why I’d be losing weight for and nothing surfaced.

It’s now been 7 months and the amount of symptoms I have now are a lot. Still have twitches but in areas of the body I once had muscle mass. I know have a swallowing issue and extremely bad post nasal drip. I’ve had post before but now this is extreme. When I lay down my stomach caves in but not like normal like it’s got not as much muscle strength it once did. Stomach doesn’t empty as fast as before I can tell by the frequency I gotta go to the bathroom.

My whole body has drastically change in appearance like wasted. I didn’t think of it till er doctors wanna say said looks like muscle wasting maybe. Now I got cramps in muscles and I get body jerks here and there. The major concern is I used to sleep thru the night but now I wake up every 3 hours with extreme cotton mouth. And I can’t sleep on my stomach as I’ve always have it feels harder to breathe. My tongue is weaker I’ve noticed and I get this odd clicking or like this odd noise in my mouth that my tongue makes. I’ve got this pressure in my one ear like a spasm from time to time. Hands are extremely wrinkled now I’m only posting that cause it says handy atrophy also effects the skin.

I’m going to post my results of my ct scan only because the tongue result and neck result also said could be due to als. I think it started in my lower back if I was a betting man. The twitches are everywhere now. Stomach to backside to shoulders to neck and now all over my face. Voice sounds raspy but I can still pronounce words without a slur. Swallowing food isn’t hard but water or liquid makes me burp every time. New thing is my arms shake when I pick up things that they shouldn’t.

Feels like daily body gets weaker or something new pops up. I can still walk around 15k to 20k steps a day but I do notice my lower back hurts really bad and sometimes my feet switch up on me like kinda drag on the floor but that I chalk up to maybe my lower back issue. Thanks for your time and if you have any insight it’s greatly appreciated. If you look at my hand it looks almost like split hand but daily I squeeze a 60kg hand gripped to see if each hand has strength still.

Today I got back my NFL results they are high for my age range. Can anyone help me with this cause NFL in general is confusing since it’s not an actual diagnosis but a tool. But slightly high is bad in general I’d say

Nfl is non specific anyway and your value would be normal if you were just a few years older. I do feel these ranges have room for error as it makes no sense to me that suddenly a person can be a day older and what was abnormal is now normal.

Nfl can also be affected by time of day, hydration, renal function and glucose control as well as some variation in the lab from batch to batch. Even a recent bump on the head will raise it

You should discuss with your doctor who can interpret it as it relates to your particular clinical presentation

I’m a type 2 diabetic.

Type 2 diabetics are known to have higher nfl levels. Yours wasn’t that high for your age so coupled with your diabetes I think you have the reason
