Florida has no plan. Thousands of people waiting hours were turned away. The way I look at it is I'm in a safe home environment. I don't need to work. I'm a short distance from a huge park where I can walk and sit without worrying about people. I'm also on the beach and can go there. My groceries and other necessities are being delivered. I have a pack of N95 masks and eye shields.
I'm not having any difficulty breathing and, aside from pain and ALS, I'm healthy. I'd rather all the healthcare workers get their shots first and all the vulnerable old people next. Not to make this political but there are many underserved people in our State and they don't have transportation to a vaccination site. I'd like to see those people served. We have terrible public transportation in our area.
Fred, my housemate, has pre-existing conditions but doesn't turn 65 until December. He will get his shot ASAP, although being in Florida, we have no idea when or where we'll get it. I can get mine at my primary care at Mayo if I want to make the drive. I'm thinking it'll be about March or April before I get vaccinated. Fred said he would drive my brother and SIL to get their shots and he would get one at the same time, if available.
The first day of vaccines in my area proved a disaster. People under 40 were getting shots. It was first come, first served.
