hello all, looking for answers from people who may have more knowledge about this. I’m 39 years old female. 2 months ago, i started having a burning sensation in both legs that was accompanied by body wide twitching! I was able to see a neurologist 2 weeks later who performed a strength and reflex test, along with an emg and nerve test. Nothing was found and suggest it might be bfs. I decided to get a second opinion because the twitching was in every single part of my body and after looking up what it could be, the only thing that kept coming up was ***! I could not find anything else! I was able to get a second opinion 2 weeks ago. He preformed another strength and reflex test and said no emg is needed because my clinical was great. And to only come back if I have new symptoms. Well, unfortunately I just started new symptoms, I woke up with radiating pain in my right hand! it’s been painful for 2 days now. could my symptoms be the start of als?

No, ALS does not present as you describe, and contrary to what you think you read, twitching everywhere is a strong argument against it even before your clean exams. Waking up with radiating hand pain is most often a consequence of how you sleep. It could be time for a new pillow, mattress, overlay or bed frame. You may also want to track your sleep with a wearable and if there are issues ask about a sleep study.

Meanwhile, to feel better, you might try therapeutic massage, hot tubbing, swimming, walking, tai chi, Pilates, classical stretch -- activities that gently stretch you out. And of course stay up with any lab work your PCP thinks might be a good idea, such as electrolytes and a CBC.

The reason you don't see a lot of "diseases" attached to any Google search of whole-body twitching is because about the label that applies to it most often is "benign" -- not a disease. And you wouldn't see ALS in there, except for what is basically urban myth.
