Hello, my name is Aleks and I am 22 years old.

My story started with january 15th 2022 when I noticed twitching in my eye lid. The symptoms was followed by horrible headaches, feeling of imbalance and being pushed to one side plus weird inner sensations that were almost not visible to being seen, started in my belly and went to the legs and shoulders very fast. It was so hard for me because they felt like earthquakes but you could barely see them. I also had brain fog and blurred vision for almost 2 weeks.

Most of this symptoms went away but I developed since then similar-like als symptoms. Weakness in arm, joint pains, trouble swallowing, etc. I read about ALS and could not think about any other thing anymore, I was/am 1000 % sure I have ALS. The doctor sent me for ct of the head that showed nothing, blood was perfect, MRI normal and EMG without problems plus rentgen for swallowing, which also showed nothing. I visited 4 neurologist and 2 regular doctors, they said they are 99% sure it is not ALS but cannot exclude it. The diagnose for now is anxiety/psychosomatic disorder. The twitching became so horrible, it went to my neck, my jaw, my back, both legs and left arm. I have cramps and trouble walking, big pain in my legs. My right hand feels stiff, slow and I have a hard time holding my phone, the phone is shaking all the time when I am holding it.

Although docs say they are ALMOST sure it is not als I cannot believe it. My belly, where I felt inner vibrations is stil shaking 24/7 since january, alrhough I do not feel the inner vibrations anymore (just in the legs now). I also have to mention that I am experiencing pain in my back and got asymetric in body shape. My hands don’t feel the same anymore, like they are slow, robotic and without fine motor functions. I have trouble sleeping, I am sleeping bad and wake up every day the same hour (really early). 2 days ago I started taking zoloft 25, after 7 days I will go to 50.

Please help me, I need opinions. I am really sure it is early ALS.

Potential things that could lead to my situation:
Fast tempo of life
Covid in november 2021
Stressful events in january 2022, my cats died because of parvovirus, for 3 days my belly was going on and off, was a hard time.

Hello-

So much of what you list has absolutely nothing in common with ALS. If you read here: Read Before Posting you will see why- pain, sensory issues, symptoms that come and go, etc.

You've also seen 4 specialists and 2 gps who have told you no, had tests that have indicated not ALS- and you've also listed several very good reasons for your symptoms. I hope you are able to believe your doctors and work towards reducing your worries about ALS. Covid affects some people long after acute infection, so this may be contributing to your symptoms.

Please take care

May I ask - is it possible to get a clear emg and still have ALS in very early phase? I have done the EMG 3 weeks ago, where I had zero fasciculations .. those are now present for a week and get worse every day, they are everywhere, very widespread..
thank you so much for your answer and opinion

From the link I provided you (please make sure to read):

Very sorry about your cats.

I agree that there is no reason to think about ALS but you may wish to consider evaluation by a long Covid clinic, or if unavailable, a physical rehabilitation program.

Best,
Laurie
