Hi there,

I am a 34 year old woman. I have a host of symptoms and I need some advice. My symptoms have been going on for about 6 months.

I have twitching here and there throughout body. My Muscles burn when I am using them for simple tasks like brushing teeth, washing hair, chewing. Like yesterday I was baking homemade cookies with my 3 year old and stirring the batter was hard, After the muscles burn they get achy. I have lost 5lbs which is a lot for me. Sometimes I have trouble breathing because my stomach muscles are tired. I get sharp stabbing pains throughout body periodically. Sometimes my legs feel like they are vibrating when I am laying in bed. Somedays I have pretty good days and I think maybe there is nothing wrong and then I have days where I feel terrible and I have no energy. I am not sure but it seems like my symptoms are worse when I haven't had good sleep. If I had ALS would I have days where I don't feel so bad or would I progressively feel worse?

I am going to a neuro this week, but I just want some input before hand. Please even if it is bad I need some advice.

It's impossible for anyone on-line to give any kind of meaningful evaluation of your symptoms. If you don't have noticeable weakness or atrophy, though, those are good signs. You might want to be sure that your neurologist is a specialist in neuromuscular diseases.

Best,
Jeff

Hi,

Did you have any tests at all yet,
There are so many different things it could be, ALS is a process of elimination.
there are no specific tests for it.
They have to rule out so many different things before anyone can say it is ALS.
It is very scary, but there are so many treatable things it could be.
Have patience it can be along time before you find out any kind of diagnosed.
