Re: Limb progression

My right leg peroneal withered first then left leg got affected ....both thighs and calves are being lost fast...to the extent that i cannot walk for longer distances.i do not have confidence to move.....my upper abdomen has lots of twitches...there are twitches in both of my legs as well as abdomen
Ironically my ncv and leg of legs was normal....but my back muscles as well as my trunk is weakening....
I choke while drinking liquids but swallow things well....
My mother and maternal aunts were all suffering from lower motor neurons disease
Which eventually got changed to als and death by pneumonia....
Is emg a validatory test and perhaps emg of back could have diagnosed it....

The EMG is considered the gold standard for a diagnosis of ALS or PMA. There are other things to be ruled out but without an EMG showing an ALS pattern and distribution the criteria for diagnosis are not met. That does not mean nothing is wrong necessarily but it does mean look elsewhere. Supposedly back muscles are very sensitive for ALS but with the symptoms you describe it should show in the legs

You were going to post your EMG. If you do so we could posdibly understand your situation better
