Hello All

I am a 36 year old man with health anxiety. However, in August 2021 I went through a stressful period of time and began having body wide twitching. This completely scared me crapless and sent me into a spiral out of control about ALS. Went to my PCP and he ordered an EMG. Got the EMG toward the end of September 2021 and it was performed by a Physiatrist. He said that I had “subtle chronic denervation” in both of my calves but everything in my arms and back were normal. No PSW or Fib. He basically said it was a fairly normal EMG and he wasn’t concerned about anything

I followed up with the neurologist and he examined me and looked at my EMG report and just said that I was very young and there was nothing worrisome on the report.

I have been seeing a psychiatrist ever since which has helped in some capacity but I still twitch all over every single day. Recently, I have been stumbling upon some of my words. I hesitated when I said the word “twitter” and I tried saying the word “WNBA” and completely botched it and tripped over my tongue. However if I think about the word I can certainly annunciate it fine. Just feels like the more I talk the more my tongue can’t keep up sometimes. Also have horrible post nasal drip and a weird dry tongue sensation.

Does any of this sound off? Is there any chance this is something that has been manifesting over 1 year? I thank you all so much for your feedback and wish you the best.

Hello-

Please make sure to read here: Read Before Posting

You're under the care of a neurologist who says "no ALS" and had the EMG to back it up. You also report other issues entirely unrelated to a motor neuron disease (have a read of that link for lots of info). If you are still concerned, by all means, return to the neuro who saw you for another clinical exam, but I don't think you'll find anyone here who would disagree with a specialist's assessment.

Thanks for the response Shiftkicker! I wasn’t having any speech issues when I saw him last year. And honestly it hasn’t been happening all the time just sometimes. I’m sure this is anxiety related but I was spiraling which made me post here. Thanks.

Moving from all this medical help to asking the terminally ill to reassure you is not good. Please talk with your psychiatrist about having done this so you can receive help, and be sure to follow their instructions and advice.
We will not disagree with the doctors, you show no signs of ALS whatsoever.
