Seems to me that we do have people who have been there. Hopefully they can answer.

AL.

they are supposed to be among the best, there's a parking garage. (about $26 for 3 hours).

Good God man he just wants to rent the parking space, not buy it! That's criminal.

AL.

Don't they even give discounted parking to patients, but then again we are talking about NY.

My brother went to Columbia twice, he saw Dr. Mitsumoto. The first time (Aug of 06) they said they didn’t think he had ALS said they wanted him to come back in 6 months (he went back May of 07) when he went back they were pretty sure it was ALS. It had already been diagnosed by 3 different doctors in Florida but he was looking for some other diagnosis..... He liked the doctor but didn't see any point in going back. As for the parking... I'm pretty sure they have valet parking.

I went to Columbia and took all my recent test and he wanted more MRIs blood emgs so I left and never went back. I felt it was a money thing since all my test were so recent and emgs arent fun

Pat,

I think alot of specialist are like that, they want to do all there own test by thier people to make sure
nothing was missed.

Park at the main hospital. I think it is the Milstein building, right on Ft. Washington Ave. They will valet the car for you and the Neuro Ins. is only a bit away. I would not go down to the parking lot. It is too much of a hike. Go to the main hospital and they valet it for you.

what did you think of columbia?

I was there last week with my mom and I have to say I'm not sure if we liked it. We felt rushed
and left there with no information of what to do next or expect and our next appointment is 4 months from now! wondering if we should try somewhere else...curious what you thought.

We also went to CP for a second opinion. We were still in denial..and DR. M held nothing back. Maybe we needed the tough love, but he kept interrupting my husband mid sentence which was so infuriating since his speech was impaired. I understand that he has a great reputation in the ALS field....so maybe you will have a better experience. Oh, be prepared with all your files in order. He wants the dates of everything. We were so unorganized...it was embarrassing.

yes, this was a third opinion, only because of two previouss conflicting Dx,s.we saw another doctor first,dr. habib whobtw is verynice and pleasant before dr.mitsumoto for about an hour and a half of testing and consultation, good thing i had a timeline printed out besides my other emg/ncv results from two previous drs with different Dx,s.
as far as seeing dr.mitsumoto for appx fifteen minutes,)still got charged $850.00 $anyway)he said that he dosnt think its ALS,and i should find a parkinons specialist to be treated for that disease ans since my inurance hasnt approved columbia medical or dr .mitsumoto yet and had to pay out of pocket for now i guess its back to westchester medical where i previously receivied my parkinsons Dx and deal with that.
