Hi There
Newbie Here, I am 30 years old, I am just wondering, back in 2019 after receiving the Twinrix Vaccine (Hepatitis Vaccine) I developed back pain that shot pain through to my left foot, I have twitching in my left foot constantly, I also then ended up getting bodywide twitches, i did have cramping in the calves, however, this disappeared as time went on, at the moment I have no other symptoms apart from the twitches its been 16 months up to date.
I went to a Neurologist (He is a Brain Specialist)
Clinical Examination = Normal
EMG/NCS = Clean
Spinal MRI = Normal
Bloodwork/vitamin Levels = Normal
Though he only checked the left side of me only in regards to the EMG, even though i do get bodywide twitches on the right, I wasn't sure why they only check one side and not the other but I found this on another forum answering that
("They do one side only as with ALS it affects the body at different spinal levels so as there are two nerve root which leaves each vertebra, what is happening on the left is also happening on the right.") not sure if this is true if someone can confirm?
he put one needle into my left calf and told me to flex and he put another needle into my left shoulder
He told me everything is fine, there's no evidence of muscle loss or nerve damage, and advised me to stop thinking about this from this point on, he diagnosed me with BFS
my question is if the EMG is Clean, how certain can i be this is not ALS, from what I gathered, an abnormal EMG would have been picked up prior to twitching because nerves are dying off, he also advised me it has been 16 months, if it was something serious surely by now it would have shown, so I'm just not sure.
Regards
Joe
