Hello
My name is Jasmine and I am 28 years old and from Los Angeles. My dad Gary was diagnosed on 12/12/12 and I took care of him until he died of respiratory failure in January of this year. I would constantly look at posts on these forums but I was too afraid to make an account and I'm not sure why. I desperately wanted to meet someone my age who was taking care of a parent with ALS but couldn't bring myself to make a post looking for support. So if any twenty-something's out there need someone to talk to I'm here now. My dad had a trach and g-tube and occasional homehealth nurse but for the most part I took care of him with the help of my mom and sister. We have given away lots of medical supplies but we have some left over (trach ties, disposable inner canulas, kangaroo feed pump bags and an IV pole) that we are willing to part with for free, if anyone in the Los Angeles area would like them. We also have a few things that I've attempted to sell on Craigslist that we are willing to part with at a discounted price (manual and power wheelchairs, Hoyer lift, hospital bed, ramp and his Tobii Dynavox eye tracking device). We are just trying to part with these things and are willing to work with anyone if they are interested in these items. If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I will gladly email anyone photos of the items if you are interested.
Best,
Jasmine
