can you still cough in the late stages of als

I wondered if the ability to cough is lost in the late stages of als? I figure it will be do to the need for cough assist machine, but this is something I always wondered. I have been trying to figure that out for sometime, and wanted to prepare one way or another. thanks to all.

Jenny you are worrying aabout things you shouldn't be worring about. Where is this stuff coming from ? I'm thinking you need real help and you won't get it here.
