Hi guys,

I have 7 years of symptoms, had so much tests and seen so many neurologists and neuromuscular specialists, emgs were clean and they didnt suspect anything.

Symptoms:

Fasciculations
Cramps
Tremors under muscle stress
Nerve pain
Fatigue
Joint pain
Muscle tightness

Out of the blue for 2 wks straight now i keep waking up during sleep with what it feels like i was holding my breath..
That has contimued and now ill wake gasping for air or wake cause i have stoped breathing..
Happens literally 10-15 times a night before i finally pass out and go into a deeper sleep..
I worry its my throat or breathing muscles weakening..

My breathing, drinking, eating is fine..

Its just a sleep issue..

Could this be als? After 7 years could it present like this?

Kind regards
Trent.

No, Trent, ALS is not your issue. I would ask about a sleep study. You might have some kind of apnea or other sleep disorder.

As for your other symptoms, if you are still walking, talking and typing after seven years, those would be lower on the concerns list for me. It might be time to stop worrying about a diagnosis since evidently several docs are not concerned, and focus on sleep, stress management, massage, bodywork, hydration, nutrition and all the things that can make you feel better.

Best,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Thank you so much for your reply, it really helped me.

Since we spoke the last 2 days i have cramps pretty much non stop in my throat, tongue and soft palate..

Coupled with the new sleep stuff im definately worried..

Do you think this is of concern when it comes to als?

I can still eat, drink, whistle etc. But the cramps are scaring me.

Kind regards
Trent.

Trent, I'll stand on my last reply. You can keep adding and subtracting symptoms, but I'll still advise a sleep study and empirical (do what makes it better) approaches to every symptom that constrains your daily activities.

Best,
Laurie
