Brain activity at death

I saw this as well. It has been shown for a number of years that the last few moments produce a last flurry of intense brain activities, so I wasn’t terribly surprised that the memory portion of our cortex was activated. It would seem quite plausible that it is our brain’s way of easing the transition with (presumably) pleasant memories of our time on earth. I wonder if this occurs with an instantaneous death.

Now if science could get a better understanding of consciousness itself....

Well the rats in the study cited were presumably instaneous deaths
