Our PALS is now almost completely dependent on the BIPAP, although he does take the machine off to have very minimal conversations or to state things. The mouthpiece ventilation, or sip and puff function on the BIPAP machine (the respiratory physiotherapist hadn’t heard of this function of the machine), recommended here, has not been pursued, nor has the voice to text eyegaze technology. He is increasingly breathless on the BIPAP Machine.
Given that he can take the mask off to gasp out a few words, which I assume means he is able to take in a little bit of breath, does it sound like there might still be some adjustment of prescription available on the BP machine, which would make him more comfortable?
