Would like to know if there are alternatives to the vendor supplied battery backup/inverter sold by company?

Making a car trip and bipap use for a few hours woul help.

Thanks, my first thread:)

Exactly what does a BIPAP do.. Mom will be using one very shortly.. they have prescribed her one..

Bipap in simple english

increases inspiration rate to better fill lungs with air, assists with expiration too (I think)

Mom was wondering how it works.. Pushes a big gasp of air into her? Does it hurt.. or startle oneself?

Greetings Gahiker....welcome to the forum. Depends on what kind of Bipap you have, but try http://www.cpapxchange.com/cpap-parts-accessories.html

Also http://www.cpap.com/ and click on power and batteries under accessories.

You can also call their 800 phone numbers and visit regarding your specific Bipap--they are pretty knowledgable. But they have adapters for car cigarette lighters for most Bipaps. We have a Resmed Vpap S/T and that is one of the hardest to find power sources for, but most others have them available.

Good Luck, Beth (CALS to husband Shannon, diagnoseded 8/04 at age 40)

I have a car inverter that I've never had to use but I also bought an Eliminator Battery pack at Canadian Tire and it weighs 23 pounds has a gel pack battery and can power my Bipap for around 7 hours on a full charge. I've only used it twice for a few hours for power failures. Seems to work pretty good for me.

Hey Mike here's a site to get good information on the Bipap. They're not really that scary if you get a good RT with experience and patience.
