Automobile safety

Some may remember. Years ago the insurance industry spent millions
of dollars lobbying for mandatory seat belt laws. Several testified
before Congress saying mandatory seat belt laws could lower auto
insurance premiums as much as 30% and possibly 40%.

Never happened.

DUI driving is at the lowest level since the seat belt laws. As MADD
championed their cause they also said it would lower auto insurance
premiums.

Hasn’t happened.

My car insurance for two vehicles is now $1550.00 a year.

Twenty five years… no tickets no accidents.

Hmmm… :)

Oh yea... and now that nut behind the wheel is on the phone. :)

We can end cell phone use while driving by eliminating the following 3 items from all vehicles:

Automatic transmissions
Power steering
Power brakes

Those of us who are old can remember standing on the brakes praying that you stopped in time when it wasn't even an emergency.

 I remember driving a 1954 Kaiser Manhattan with Supercharger, and a peace of galvanized metal over the hole in the floor under the driver's feet. Without it, I could watch the road zip by. It's interesting what winter road salt can eventually do. I still wonder how long it would have taken for the seat to drop out.

I really miss that car. It had a padded dash and lots of CHROME! I still have 2 hubcaps and the name off the side. Ah, first love. May blessings abound B.
