Good Morning, I just wanted to ask you all a question that might point me in the right direction. As a lot of you are very educated and informed on the nervous system, can you give some insight into twitching and sensory issues? I’ve had the burning sensation, numbness, cold sensation, pins and needles, and twitching in my feet. I understand that ALL of this points away from ALS. However, the twitching symptom is the one that worries me. In my left foot, the twitching feels internal. As in, I cannot see the skin or muscle itself moving, but definitely feel it relentlessly. This alone isn’t the worrisome part. The part that worries me is that the internal twitch feels rhythmic. No matter if I’m standing, sitting, or laying, the interval twitch stays the same. I timed it after a few days, and it stays consistent at 5-6 seconds between each. Is there something I can do to help it, so that I can actually get some sleep? Does this point to ALS at all? Thanks in advance! I apologize for taking up your time as well!

Could be peripheral neuropathy, RLS, something else or nothing. What does your doctor say? Highly likely this is treatable but you need a dx. You can ask about a sleep study.

I have an appointment with my primary in 2 weeks. Will update you guys at that point. As far as peripheral neuropathy goes, is it normal for it to show up and be all of those symptoms in 3 days? I haven’t had an injury or anything. Only thing that’s been different is a long 14hour road trip on New Year’s Day. Everything started on the 2nd.

Hi there-
This forum deals with the day to day issues that arise with a diagnosis of ALS and will answer basic questions about ALS for those who are visiting with doctors and going through a diagnostic process. You are asking people to speculate about what you might have based on a small amount of information- you must speak with your doctor. I understand that uncertainty is very difficult, however, you may be feeding anxiety by engaging on a forum about a terminal disease.

Please visit with your doctor to ask your questions and get an examination. Please read here also: Read Before Posting. It answers many of the questions that people have, as well recommends you see a doctor first.

Sounds like the prolonged sitting irritated some nerves
