Hello all. Happy Halloween! This morning's Boston Globe has an interesting article about a man with ALS who made a movie of his life. The story also talks about the efforts of his siblings to raise money for ALS research. I don't know if I am allowed to post a link to the Boston Globe but if you search the web you will find them really easy. The article is in their "living" section.

Here's a link for what it is worth. http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2006/10/31/for_als_survivor_so_much_more_so_fast/

PS. I don't know the family and the movie is not out yet so I can't offer much more info that what was reported.

Best to all and hope your day goes well. CindyM

Hi CindyM. I have heard about the movie and it opened in New York a few weeks ago to rave reviews. Not quite a Mission Impossible 3 but supposedly very good. Good article in the Globe though. It gives more background than any others I had read. Thanks. AL

Cindy, here's a link to an ALS forum run by the ALS Therapy Foundation that Jamie Heywood founded to research ALS for his brother Stephen:
http://www.als.net/forum/
For those with a scientific bent, it provides interesting updates on what the Foundation has tried and both Jamie and Dr. McCarthy, an ALS researcher, frequently respond to questions. His devotion to his brother has cost him his job and his marriage. Quite a guy.

Thanks John1 and AL. Al, you never cease to amaze me with the amount of information crammed into you head! How do you find room for it all? :-D

I wonder if that's why my wife sometimes calls me "fathead"?

Nooo-she probably is referring to all that leftover Halloween candy you ate!
