Are there signs prior to slurring

My husband has all the same symptoms as you and was also seen by Dr Bosch at Mayo. But they will not give him a diagnosis because he only has one point where the EMG was not normal at this point (his tounge). They told him to come back in 6 months. It feels like they are just sending him home to deteriorate more so they can be more sure of his diagnosis....it is awful. Did you have more than one dirty EMG for your diagnosis of PBP? What else could it possibly be.

Thelma ... that's so eerie about your Dad's symptoms. What amazes me is that these symptoms are so mundane and seemingly unrelated; that they could be precursors to such a deadly serious condition just floors me.

I agree Beth. So much about this disease is so baffling.

Prior to slurred speech my dad also complained of feeling like something was stuck in his throat. I think he had started having slight trouble swallowing for a long time before the slurring started.
