Apology in order…
I guess I need to apologize for my previous post. I painted with a too
wide a brush.
The Veterans I wrote about are not the majority. I have been to a few
Viet Nam Veteran celebrations. I went to a huge “Welcome Home”
Celebration at the Charlotte Motor Speedway (Now Lowe’s Motor
Speedway. Again the Veterans I wrote about were not the majority.
What pisses me off is the TV coverage. For example… at the big
“Welcome Home Celebration” at the Charlotte Motor Speedway was
covered by local and cable networks. (Again, the Vets I wrote about
were not majority.)
But… I’ll be damned if the camera crews didn’t go right to the ones
I wrote about previously. How many times when there is a cable TV
segment about Viet Nam Vets… they seem to find one of those guys.
They are not the representatives of the majority of Viet Nam Vets.
Millions went on to college and successful lives.
I guess I went over board in my last post being we worked with the
ARVNs and Montagnards. That patch a lot of these characters have
on their vests “Kill ‘em all… let God sort ‘em out.” Raises my
anger.
Don’t know if this helps… I apologize if my previous post went
over wrong.
It was not the Special Forces motto. And... those who wear that patch were not Special Forces. Period.
