Anyone still walking (with/without assistive device) 4+ years after limb (legs) onset?

Two years next month and at 76yo still able to walk. I know every handhold in the house, use as cane outside the house and for longer distances, a wheelchair. A concern for me is just getting tired, worn out, and thus weak when walking. Only have had one fall so far, in socks and foot slipped out on linoluem floor. No more shoeless joe. I do soft exercises five days a week.

So glad you asked the question because the replies are very encouraging. I am 4 years into the journey. Mine started with severe muscle spasms and tripping over my foot. I have gone thru the use of cane and rollator. Total wheelchair use the last 6 months. Still doing PT and hoping to get back to a rollator. I have had more decline in the past year than previous 3 combined. Lower limb onset. I now have twitching and spasms in upper body and arm with general upper body weakness. Atrophy and weakness in legs. I can still move them some, but they cannot support weight at all. Best of luck to you.

I am about 4 months out from my diagnosis but about 3 years symptomatic. I can walk with my cane on good days but stay near walls. Short distances. Rollator when things aren't feeling well. Losing strength in my right arm now and more and, while being right handed of course. I have a power wheelchair coming soon so that will be nice.

I am still walking after symptom onset early 2017. Carefully and slowly if not using an AFO or cane and walker. With AFO on my left foot I can walk otherwise unassisted. If am I going a good distance I use a cane or walker.

I have a hard time getting Rollator out of car. What brand do you have. I feel like I am going to lose my balance getting it out on my own.

At 70 yrs. and 6 yrs. since diagnosis I am still walking, but in the last 10 months I have have suffered several bad falls that required trips to the ER. I always fall forward and two weeks ago I fell on my face and broke a front tooth out. I have a rollator but I can't operate the brakes. I'm just too stubborn to know when it's time to stop.

Anne827, I have the ByAcre carbon fiber rollator. It is only 10.2 lbs, the lightest on the market. it is very sleek looking. it does have a hefty price tag and is not available for free from most support organizations. But it was worth it to me for the leightweightness and look.
