Hi. Is there anyone here in Massachusetts who is familiar with eligibility for MassHealth CommonHealth (Personal Care Assistance program)? I understand that there are no income restrictions (different rules re working and premium and deductible). I am most interested if there are asset restrictions. Any info and personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

I believe there is not an asset restriction - at least if you have commercial insurance. I believe it is more complicated if you have medicare. I knew someone who had it but it was a while ago and I never knew details

I am in Massachusetts and am enrolled in the PCA program. It is a form of loan because when you die they can come after your assets for reimbursement. You can look this up online.
You need to be associated with an agency to help you apply. They send a nurse to evaluate your needs and determine how many hours of assistance you need. They send it to the state who approves what they deem necessary. My agency is the Center of Living and Working in Worcester. You can contact them and learn more about the program and decide if it’s something you want to do.
They only pay $19/ hour and it’s hard to find good PCA at that rate. We pay ours a few dollars more over what the state pays, to get a reliable person.
