I posted a few months back about some weakness issues in my right thumb/forearm/shoulder area. Since then i had another EMG which came back totally fine.
Still have twitches everywhere, but i've moved past the thought of ALS.

Some have said maybe tendonitis or carpal tunnel. The deal is there's no pain at all with what appears to be just a strange weird weak fatigue feeling and sometimes some minor shaking.

Anybody have any ideas or experiences on weak finger/finger/shoulder with no pain but it's not ALS. Again, I'm not stressing over the thought of ALS, just looking if theres another road to travel down.

And all those who are dealing with this terrible disease, my prayer is that they find a cure quickly and concisely. May God give the doctors and technicians great wisdom and understanding.

Thanks everyone.

Well, my simplistic understanding is that an NCS (often done together with an EMG) would show out carpal tunnel-type issues. As to what might be wrong? I have no clue and I doubt any amount of goo-gle-fu will help things. It's just a way too general condition. If it's bothering you that much or is causing limitations in daily function, you should really get back to your GP and discuss it.

Follow up to see if there's a need for repair, or possibly some PT or OT for some exercises or assistive devices to improve function.

I don't know how helpful us taking wild guesses will be. I like the idea of circling back with your doc. In the meantime, how disabling / limiting is this for you? Is it preventing you from doing daily tasks?

thanks for the responses. i do have another appointment set up for next week with my GP. It's not necessarily preventing me from doing any tasks. It's noticeable when picking up or grabbing objects (which i can still do, but i notice the "feeling" in my hand). I'm wondering if my hand is effected by something happening in my shoulder. I play a lot of softball and maybe did something that i don't know about. Again, no pain, just fatigue/weakness. We'll see what my GP says.

thanks again

Was the NCV normal? If so, that rules out nerve trapped issues most likely.

Is it possible you've injured your shoulder playing ball? We can't answer that, only a doc with an MRI machine or x-ray can

Glad to hear you've got a follow-up appointment scheduled. Let us know how that goes. Take care.

As far as i know the NCV came back normal. My neuro is a bit dismissive with me and my past visits. I think because of my age and the MRI, blood tests, and now EMG's he's pretty much "done" with me- ha. I don't blame him in one sense, just want to know what's going on.

I haven't suffered any injuries in playing softball but i'm just wondering if the repeated motion of throwing has done something that has in turn affected my shoulder which is causing the hand issues. Not sure- we'll see how it goes. Just seems a bit weird for my shoulder to affect my thumb/hand, but i guess everything is connected to some extent.

thanks again guys!

You could have a bit of plexitis. You can have damage to the brachial plexus and it can cause terrible nerve pain in your arm and hand. Even something stretching that are can cause issues. Could cause weakness as well.

Thanks Alyoop- could it be that if i don't actually have any pain, just weakness?

I am not an expert at all, but my neuro suggested it way back and I had no pain. Probably just another stab in the dark.

Dear, a friend woke up one morning several years ago with a dead right hand. no pain at all, just a dead thumb and wrist. Doc had no answers, other than to say she slept on it wrong.

Her hand/wrist was useless for months. No reason ever given, but she had no control over it at all.

Perhaps you need to see a hand specialist?
