I am a new member. My Mom has been diagnosed with ALS. She is 83, and until last year when she was diagnosed, she could probably outrun me. It started with drop foot. We recently got her to assisted living, where she sits in a wheel chair, writes notes because she cannot talk.
Her doctor gives her pain meds that cause her feet to swell, or just knock her out. Her pain at night is so bad that it keeps my Dad up, and they rarely get more than a fesw hours sleep. I am from the Dallas area, theyare from Houston. They have been once to the MDA center, but no real help. It breaks my heart to see her this way and suffering. Iam sure I am not alone !
