it is going to be priced less than radicava but it sounds like just under. They said it can be prescribed now and shipping might begin in 4-6 weeks. And like MT Pharma they are developing a patient assistance program. They obviously know insurance isn’t going to want to cover and we can’t afford many thousands of dollars. please everyone let us know what works and what doesn’t
I’m going to have my husband message the nurse at his ALS clinic tomorrow. He’s on private insurance with only 80% prescription coverage. I’m curious to see what the cost is vs Radicava …
Amylyx Pharmaceuticals Inc said on Friday it has set the list price of its newly approved drug to slow the progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at about $158,000 per year in the United States.
That's out of reach and massively overpriced. In Canada, it's 18 k a year CDN, but some provincial governments are covering the cost for peeps with ALS. Shocking
It has been quoted as 160-163k for Canada in several places. Is 18k what you pay? subsidized or maybe negotiated as US medical prices are?. Clearly almost no PALS are able to pay this any more than they can the even more expensive Radicava ORS. Drug prices in the US ad especially medicare are a problem. If one’s plan approves it then costs will be capped. If it doesn’t then PALS will have to rely on the assistance program or go without. I wish it weren’t so stressful
No, Wayne doesn't pay anything. The province subsidizes the cost of the medication, thankfully. We were told 18k by his neurologist, I believe . Or maybe that was wishful thinking? However, if some PALS are already paying $800 a month for the compounded meds, how does the FDA justify the pricing? Makes no sense at all.
The fda does not set the price. The drug company does. I do understand they paid millions to develop this The cost of running the trial, the ole and the eap. There is the required ongoing phase 3 trial. The cost of the application process. Literally thousands of pages had to be submitted just so. So there is a need to recoup the costs as well as operating costs for the company
Nikki shared in a different thread about how the Relyvrio company said they will waive co-pays for people on private insurance. I didn’t check their website, yet but here is an article that also talks about that.
Justin Klee and Josh Cohen, cofounders and cochief operating officers, Amylyx Pharmaceuticals, answered questions related to the new approval of AMX0035 for ALS and how it changes the treatment landscape going forward.
