I was examined by my GP after booking an appointment to see her after I realised that I my legs and arms were becoming weaker and I was struggling to move my hands and feet properly. I thought that I had neuropathy and was realising that it was rapidly getting worse every day. I was given a brief neurological examination in my GP surgery involving some reflex, muscle strength and tongue examination. As a result, I urgently was referred to a neurologist at Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital: I have now received my appointment and it's with a specialist registrar in the MND team. I had never considered MND because I had thought it was due to overwork and tiredness. I have had other tests before my weakness became as intense as it is now (blood panels, scans, ultrasounds and X Rays) due to a limp that came on quickly. I never mentioned MND to my GP, in fact we didn't discuss anything really it was mostly a physical examination. But now I am a bit in limbo waiting for my appointment.

Kirstie, if it's any help... over the years we have seen hundreds in that 'Limbo"
zone you are now in. It isn't easy. Maybe you can call your GP and ask if he/she
can give you a possible time frame or even expedite the appointment.
Hopefully it will be soon. I'm sure some other members will chime after.

PS. Just a lighter note... I have friends over in the UK and they say "booking"
an appointment or trip. Over here very often it's said "Make" or "Making" an
appointment. :)

Kirstie,
I know how hard waiting can be. Just know that there are probably many things on the table and the doctors will sort through them until they find the cause.
When is your appointment? Try to keep busy while you're waiting. Don't be afraid to do something good for yourself.
Best, Kim
