I play poker.

"Life is not a matter of holding good cards but... playing a poor
hand well."

ALS is the hand we've been dealt... play it the best you can.

(Mods....I wanted just the thumbnail in my post above. So now I thought I'd just post the
thumbnail below but.... the full picture keeps posting. Sorry I can't seem to get this
right. I go to edit, hit "cancel" but it won't cancel the post. ?)

If it can't be worked out... delete the entire thread.

We have two card groups on Friday afternoon. One is Poker and they play for money. I've heard the same people have been playing together for 20+ years. Two men and three women. Most of them are in their 80s now but they just keep playing.

I play Hand & Foot. It's a very easy game and 80% luck but when I luck out and play cutthroat, more strategy is involved. I like games that move fast so I'm no longer interested in chess. Perhaps later but not now.

My maternal grandmother was an expert at Pinochle. She won a state championship long before I was born. My cousin sent me the article from the paper. Pinochle was the first game I learned as a child. Up North, besides outdoor sports, we played lots of cards.

The one thing I was very good at was golf. I miss it a lot. I live on a short course and watch all the old men and women play.

Kim, before Texas Hold 'em we played "Seven Card Bet 'em in Progression"

Fifty cents to ante, a dollar for the two hole cards, two dollars for the first
card up, three dollars for the third up and progressive on to the seventh card.
Max raises of five dollars. To keep players in we'd sometimes call "Low Spade
in the Hole" splits the pot. That game.... you better know when to fold. :)
Tournament play is is is a little more pricey.... well, more.

I don't play on line poker. A good poker player will say,

"If I can see your eyes and watch your hands you might as well just show
me your hand." Sometimes. :)

Now in a friendly game I have to have someone shuffle for me.
You can trust practically anyone but I still cut the deck before play :)

Thanks Karen.... the more I tried to straighten it out the worse it got.
One more try and there'd have been six pictures.

Anyway.... play the crappy hand we've been dealt the best we can.
