I am 50 and have a 14 yr old child. If my husband dies, I couldn't take care of my child since i can't work anymore. I can still drive but am worried about the future progress of this disease.

If my husband dies, would it be wise to put my house in my child's name to avoid losing it to title 19 if I have to go into a nursing home? All our parents are now in nursing homes and the state has taken every last dime. I don't want to leave my child with nothing.

I think you need to consult a lawyer. You would have to consult with a lawyer about time frame of transference of property, etc...

Your child will get SSDI until they graduate high school. You would get it until the child turns 16. Is your husband ill? If not, get life insurance. A lawyer is a great idea. Maybe the house could be put in your child and husbands name only, with the deal that you get to live there rent free for life.
