Hello-

I am new to the forum but have been following everyone's comments for some time and feel at home already. I was diagnosed in March of this year, but symptoms actually began in 2008-originally thought to be lumbar spine problems. I can't walk at all and have severe weakness in my right hand, but my left hand still seems OK. no swallowing problems yet, but some trouble breathing at night. I'm seen at the Upstate Medical University ALS Clinic and they are great.

last week I was diagnosed with uterine cancer and see an oncologist next week. I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has had this "interesting" set of circumstances and how I might begin to sort through the millions of questions I have. At this point, I'm just overwhelmed and don't know where to begin.

thank you for any insights.

Hi Keteny. Welcome to the forum. This is not a problem ive seen...but somebody might. Yes overwhelming it would be. I'm sorry.

My heart goes out to you dear one. What a year that you've had.

I hope someone can be of some help and comfort here. Let us know what your oncologist says by repos ting here.

So sorry for this additional burden you're facing.

Make a written list of questions for the Oncologist and be sure to get contact info, e- mail, phone #'s etc in case you forget something.

Good luck next week!

I too am sorry for the extra load you are carrying. I wish I could help. I would make sure all your doc tors are on the same page.

I'm really sorry to hear this!

There's some excellent advice here but for me the most important one is to make sure that, as toto put it, all your doctors are on the same page. Over here in England we usually describe it as singing from the same songbook, but its vitally important that both specialists, together with their teams, are aware of the two conditions and how they may interact. You may have to do some prodding to get them to do that:)

I'm stressing this because I have multiple conditions and i therefore have to be proactive and not let things slip between the gaps between the specialisms.

It seems to have worked so far, and your immense courage in the face of this news is an inspiration to all of us; I know that you will tackle what lies ahead in the same spirit that you have received your diagnosis of uterine cancer, so please don't worry about that very loud noise. Tt's just the forum cheering you on...
