I have been seeing a nuero for few months and he is running endless tests- Possible MND- ALS. I have twitches all over especially in my left bicept and shoulder. Lately I have noticed my ackward walking- not all the time - happens few times a day and lasts for 10- 15 seconds and it goes away. Has anyone had this sumptom? No real muscle loss ot weakness yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

God Bless everyone here ....

hey

i have the same thing for 5 months no weekness have had 3 emgs clean seen als specialist who works with als everyday said bfs! why would your nuero say als just from twitching doesnt make sense? do you have hyperreflexes any thing else? how old are you? thanks jenny

Hello sebastian and welcome to the forum. Can you describe the ackward walking a little better? Are you tripping or stubbing your toe? Finding it necessary to lock your knees? Cindy

ackward walking

Hello everyone.

Here is my situation. over 6 months ago I nicticed constant twitching in my left bicep. I did not make a big deal anout it and waited about 6 months before I went to see a neuro. He did some blood tests and it came back with slight elevation of Creatine Kinase (it was at 328) . He seemed concerned and did an emg- came back abnormal. He said he saw fasiculationa snd dameged nerve supply in my left leg with some weakness. He is doing more blood tests and Motor Neuron Pathy tests with my blood. I have no real weekness where I am twiching or any muscle apathy at this time. The only issue is sometimes I feel like it is akward to walk. It only lasts for few seconds and than I walk normal. This could happen once or twice a day and sometimes its a lot more. How can I describe akward. I have no problem walking on my toes or heels. I can do squats and do not feel any weakness. My left leg tends to shake a little whn I work out and put a lot of strain on it but it is not weaker than my right. At this time I have constant muscle twitches in my left bicept ,shoulder and tricep area. Also twitches all over my body ( less noticable) does this sound like ALS. ?

ackward walking

By the way I am 35 years old. Yes my neuro said I have hyper reflexes in my legs.

Hello Cindy.

Its hard to describe ackward walking . It feels like I have to think about moving my left leg, It feels like i am limping and its wably.. My legs feel a little stiff but no foot drop or anything. I can walk on heels and toes no problem

Well, I don't know about the walking thing except that it is good that you are able to walk on heels and toes. BTW, I'm not a doctor. None of us are, really. But the titching and weakness in the left arm could be due to a pinched nerve, which means you need a neorologist and as long as you are going that route may as well make sure he or she has some experience with MND. THey know what to look for. Good luck, Cindy

I think I know what you mean with the awkward walking. I have not been diagnosed with als, but polymyositis and a lot of the time it feels as if I have to think about lifting my right leg in order to take the next step. Most people don't have to think about walking, it just naturally happens, but, sometimes I feel as if I literally have to work at lifting my leg for that step. This usually happens after being in the grocery store or walking for an extended time. Hopefully this is something that will pass for you. Good luck.
