Hello everyone,

Been having odd symptoms the past 4 weeks. Started with Hypersalivation which is still going on but now I’m thinking I’m just having trouble swallowing and it’s not happening automatically. I have to consistently force my self to swallow my saliva. I’ve also been having on and off right arm twitching that comes and goes. I have a neuro appointment scheduled but it’s not till April. I’m concerned this is the beginning of Bulbar onset.

Very unlikely. I would see your PCP to discuss GERD, food/environmental allergies (these can start new in adults), and sleep disorders.

I’m really starting to worry as my symptoms continue to progress I believe. Hyperslavtion and I feel like I’m stumbling over my words lately when speaking. Also started to notice weakness in my right hand and fingers. I’ve noticed when I raise my hands out in front of me I can’t wiggle my right fingers as well as my left hand and I’m right handed dominant. I feel something off in my right hand when using it with everyday tasks. I’m also getting random seconds of twitching in my knee, back, arm. I’m going to schedule an appointment with my PCP to see what’s goin on. I have a neuro appointment but not for another few months.

Seeing the PCP sounds like a good plan. Keep in mind that even getting less refreshing sleep can affect how you move the next day (especially if you're lying on your R hand in bed or on the couch, for instance).

I’m in fear I have bulbar early symptoms. I’m experiencing weird feeling in my throat and speech. I’m always having to clear my throat and coughing a lot. I feel like I’m having difficulties with my speech, missing words and mispronouncing words. Every time I speak for a long time I, I feel like a lump in my throat. Still having salvia issues which I think it’s just a swallowing disorder now.

Hey Tieguy-

Have you seen the doctor? This is where you must start. Posting here will not net you any real assistance. You've already been provided info and reassurance. If that's not sufficient to reduce your anxiety about ALS, a doctor is the person to see.

Take care

Hello just to follow up had an appointment with a neuroglist 2 weeks ago and she did the clinical exam and everything checked out fine. I mentioned to her about the Hyperslavtion and didn’t have an answer for it. I have a follow up swallow study for next week to check and make sure I’m swallowing correctly. Also have a EMG scheduled for 3 weeks on my right hand as im still experiencing some weakness in my right hand grip. I notice it when im working out, right hand grip feels off. Also I’m noticed the past week im waking up with my left arm now completely asleep and numb.

Hey there Tieguy, to start you have no symptoms of bulbar why in the world would you want to think you have the most hideous disease in the world, just go back to enjoying your life and take things as they come. You can worry about something you don’t have and may never have only the next year or maybe a year and a half to have all the tests done will tell. Try to stop worrying about something that you might have and go back to enjoying life.
