to uk or not

Bravo,
in my limited experience with Emg's and neuros, interpreting EMG's is more of an artform than any true diagnostic unless one is so debilitated, there is no other alternative but ALS...by then, you would know, the guy down the street would know, your mother would know....

1. physical symptoms are such that there is no question but that it is ALS
2. exclusion of any other known, rare or common CNS diseases

the problem with this is that it may take YEARS before a diagnosis is made as first tier and second tier diseases are proved or disproved and in the meantime you are suffering and asking yourself if they did find a reason is there a treatment that could put me right again...my advise is that you should probably head back to the UK to a motor neuron clinic and get some free health care and advice from a motor neuron specialist...

Jim,
Have you ever figured out what was (is) wrong? I just returned home from Bangkok after two years of working there. I have had nearly identical symptoms for about 14 months now. In addition, lately the muscles in my fingers, arms, and shoulders just disappeared. Despite their initial numbness, my legs were feeling fine for almost a year, but they have been feeling horrible lately. They feel as if I were constantly running or working out. I continue having numbness in all limbs pretty much daily.
Anyway, I am awaiting to see an ALS specialist here in the US but am wondering if you have found any answers.

Thank you much!

R.

what?

what? man I knew I should have quit while I was ahead..what is this that you could get a clean EMG and then turn out to be something serious. Oh well I guess there is nothing i can really do but wait and repeat the test later on. I guess a clean EMG now is better than a dirty one. And only time will tell..At least I know my EMG was performed by a true EMG MND expert! still a bit worrisome.

Blessings all

Uriel
