Wake up call and hard choices

Three years ago my mom fell and broke her hip. She was 77, very frail, still working, and has had the use of only one arm and hand since the age of 4. My husband made it possible for me to go to California where I spent every day in the hospital or nursing home until I could get her out of the...

    Rate of decline?

Hi all, I'm new to the group and "most likely" (neuros best guess) have PLS. Last year at this time I was still working full time. I was going to the gym on my lunch hour. My office was on the second floor so I was going up and down a flight of stairs twice a day. I was walking around the...

On Friday it will be one year since I had surgery to implant the Baclofen pump and catheter. All in all it has been very beneficial to me! After 3 months we were still working out the optimal dose, but once we found it, it went fine. I know when I need an increase as my legs and ankles start...

The other night when switching from wheelchair to walker because the wheelchair dosen't fit in the bathroom I noticed the toes on my sciatic side were all curled under, with toenails pointing toward the floor. I realize this is an MS thing, but do have two diseases or is something PALS get? I...

Drink holder works well for dad

Mic stand and a drink holder for a walker attached to the end. Works well when dad is in his chair. The stand and cupholder cost me about $25.

    Cupholder overkill but works

I ended up ordering a microphone stand and a cupholder for a walker and attaching to the stand. It works well for him to have his mug where he can take a drink whenever he wants without one of us having to hold the cup for him. I hope this works well. I found my parts online and it only cost me...

My daughter feels I am into advanced ALS. I'm still practicing with my bipap, and since my wheelchair won't fit into the bathroom I still use my walker to get there. I went to buffet and ate soup and scrambled eggs and orange juice and this weekend I am attending my nephews wedding next...

    Massage and ROM

In August 2013 Chris and I made these videos. He was still mobile at this time (should have been using a walker to be safe but was refusing to), and was still being as independent as he could. I had just started helping him to dress but he was still cooking with assistance. He weighed around...
