Hi Everyone,
My mom was diagnosed with ALS on September 29, 2014. It's moving very fast - she now (very slowly) uses a walker, needs help dressing, toileting, bathing and eating (cutting up food). We just got her a wheelchair for outings that require us to walk more than a half a block or...
My husband wears satin underwear because it makes it easier for me to slide him into his power chair from his bed by way of a transfer board. The problem begins when I transfer him from the power chair to the toilet seat and I have to lower his underwear. He use to be able to use the palms of...
We have become pros at avoiding denials of coverage for high-mobility DME (wheelchair, patient lift, hospital bed, slings, tilting shower chair, etc.). We have won all of our appeals for the equipment we need and now have high-level personal contacts with all DME decision-makers. Here are some...

I've got a dress high toileting sling by Invacare that rarely seems comfortable. At times it is crushing my chest, making breathing more difficult on my bottom is slipping lower while the leg straps start rising to my knees. Anybody else have one of these? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Was looking online for alternatives to the Hoyer lift, I ran across this EasyPivot and watched some videos, it looks like a dream machine! Has anyone tried this for transferring a PALS? My stepfather is a big guy and very impatient when he wants to move or go to the bathroom, taking 20 minutes...
I'm tired, I'm tired of eating, going to the toilet, being dragged around the room to do things that can be done from my bed..
I would like advice on the best way to eat (I have a peg), keep my mouth moist and clear from excess saliva etc, toileting from a laying position (I have a hoist if...
We are trying to decide how we are going to handle toileting.
We both would like a toilet with a bidet (wiping him is not my cup of tea), and thought that an extension lifting the whole toilet may make it easier to get on the toilet.
But what will we need when he is too weak to get himself...
