Was hoping for feedback from this useful group on their experience with radiation therapy for secretion management. To date, we have been managing my PALS secretions with a combination of scopolamine patches, glyco subQ injections (pills were not effective and he now takes injections every 4...
this is the second time this year I've been down and out. The worst part is the breathing is extremely strained. that is nothing new and I have never used bipap or trilogy. I'm getting antibiotics tonight and so far my regimen is Musinex, breathing treatments with the mask and smoke stuff...
Dear all,
My mom has been having a very difficult time with mucus accumulating at the back of her throat and not being able to swallow or get it out.
She uses a cough assist once a day which she hates. A suction machine helps a little but not as much as we hoped to. For medication, she takes...
And I wasn't there.
I spent two months in Poland with him from August to mid October, and then had to come back to the US to work and to bring my kids back to their dad.
My father begged me not to leave.
He prayed for a quick death, and he prayed for an easy death. At least those two prayers...
my mom did the trach on last Friday. she was in ICU for 1.5days and transferred to PCU(progressive care unit). after few hours of her surgery, she started to bleed a lot so had to go back to surgery room to control the bleeding and to chech if everything is okay. next day of surgery, she was...
My PALS aspirated his yogurt a few days ago. This is our first trip to the ER because of this. They are doing breathing treatments and suction every four hours. Doing IV antibiotics. SATS staying around 90 until last night when he wouldn’t use his bipap and he was in the 80’s. My daughter came...
My wife has started choking more frequently — usually on liquids, but sometimes on grainy food. I don’t know what to do in theses cases. She continues to cough for a long time. We have used the cough assist with some success, but have not yet used the suction device. She gets a bit panicked and...
this is happening more frequently. Our strategy is to remove bipap, it makes it impossible for me to clear anything from throat, and tip my chair forward until we can spit out or suction the saliva and gunk.
Laurie wrote this on another thread.

After 2-1/2 months my PALS is still happy with the Ci. Odometer shows 26.2 miles so far. She uses it on our daily 'walks', tried the Quantum one day and immediately went back to the Ci. Last month we had an incident when she started choking and needed to get back to the suction and cough...
My dad was diagnosed in May last year. Within 3 months he was in a wheelchair and 3 months after that his speech started to go. He is now in the end stage - no speech, no arms/legs, and unable to swallow. His FVC was 24% in January.
He had been using the trilogy mask at night, but over the last...
