Hi,
Pam here. My husband Jim was diagnosed in January(bulbar onset.) Has lost most of the use of his hands and very little speech left. As he loves to say when he's asked how things are going he's "Still walking". He still has a great sense of humor.
He's also got some FTD going on...so things...
I have had some muscle, really light but ever present twitching in left calf, and some occasional jerks here and there and my left ankle grows fatigued easily. I am not using very much caffeine but I admit being anxious type, especially over this.
However I seek specific kind of account, I was...
I by no means want to disrespect anyone who is suffering on this site. I do not think I have ALS either like others who post on this site. I am simply looking for information.
The paper I'm writing is worth 60% of my overall grade in my graduate class. I'm also currently typing on my phone so I...
Hello, first, let me just thank you for being willing to have a place where you answer questions from people who are often suffering from health anxiety.
Second, I am suffering from health anxiety. I freely admit that up front, even to my doctors. I have a doctor that understands that anxious...

I copied some statements (below) about life expectancy. Here’s what I think I know from the doctors and from helping my wife as she progressed:
In ALS, death usually comes from impaired breathing, especially aspiration pneumonia due to swallowing problems. If the patient lives long enough...

With what we have all seen in the past several months with PALS who have left us, it makes me question the 3 to 5 year life expectancy. Sure seems closer to two years to me. The outside world doesn't see what goes on in this forum. If it were published, I believe there would a much larger...
Hey all,
I just want to start off by saying I am not here to troll or waste anyone's time. I have a great deal of respect for the people in this forum and I hope everyone with ALS or know someone with ALS one day can finally beat this disease. I am currently a medical student, and realize...
Hi:
I'm James and I'm supporting a loved one who is currently taking many tests to determine if he has MND. As you know, it's a stressful, taxing and frightening experience for all of his friends and family.
I'm in denial that he has it. The statistics I've read indicated 5000 people in...
Hello,
First i should state that I did read the sticky so i know i have some statistics on my side. However:
I'm a 28 year old male, started having twitches all over my body 1 1/2 to 2 months ago. Legs, biceps, face, neck, buttcheeks. pretty much everywhere. It's normal for me to get...
Greetings,
I was wondering if my symptoms of abnormal arm fatigue and fasciculations, both of which are symptoms that ALSA mention as early symptoms of ALS, are consistent with those of a patient with ALS. I'm a 26 year old male about to get my masters in statistics on Saturday, :)!
I'll try...
