    A wonderful day

We had friends visit over the weekend (Saturday thru Monday) and it was a wonderful time. They helped me get Matt onto the Pontoon for a boat ride--his fourth this year using a lift on the dock. It was an all-day effort, from having him sleep in while I cleaned and prepped the boat, to...

    buying cheaper lift slings

I use a Guldmann ceiling lift to be lifted from bed to toilet to wheelchair and once a week to a shower chair. For about 15 years I have been using the Guldmann basic-basic large polyester sling for daily use and the Guldmann mesh sling for showering. Both slings are showing signs of wear and...

    Handling dead weight---crap!

We've given up on standing transfers and as of this weekend are now either sliding or using the lift. Tonight it struck me just how bloody difficult it will be once he's truely dead weight. OMG! Just rolling him over to get the sling off was a struggle (he weighs over 200lbs). At his last PCP...

    Lift slings

We need information about lift slings. We were told the best would be a full body commode sling. I was just reading on the internet that the best type for ALS patients is the Hygiene/Toileting sling. Thought I would ask advice from people that have used these slings. Thanks
